Exemplification of the Fourth Degree

Please consider joining the 4th degree if you have not already done so. It is our patriotic degree and an opportunity to share God’s love for our country and our veterans. You must be a third degree knight to join the 4th degree. If you are not yet a third degree knight you can easily complete the Charity/Unity/Fraternity degree and be ready to attend this 4th degree exemplification.

The Worthy District Master and all the State Officers have been working feverishly to conduct a live Fourth Degree exemplification.  We need your help getting the word out to all Third Degree Knights so that they might step up and become Sir Knights.  We also highly encourage fellow Sir Knights to be in attendance as well.  This will be the most social event in a Knights life so far. Sir Knights from all over the State with their wives will gather to share ideas and make the Fourth Degree stronger than ever.  Please do not procrastinate and wait until the last minute, act now as we only have a certain number of rooms.  Our State convention was sold out within weeks.  Call today and make your reservations as soon as possible.  If your Assembly would like to host a hospitality room, please contact Mike Moore or Chuck Everding now.  We only have a selected few.

The Exemplification of the Fourth Degree will take place in Pho enix on Saturday, September 18, 2021. The ceremonial and the banquet will held be at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel, 2620 West Dunlap Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

You can download the Exemplification Packet here. Final Sep 2021 Evening Exemplification Packet

The registration link as well as the exemplification packet may be found at https://kofc-az.org/patriotic-degree. Both are necessary and important.

In these changing times for our country, the Patriotic Degree may be just what we need. God Bless America!

August/September Pilgrimage to Spain, Portugal and France

Consider journeying with Father Seraphim Molina and I next year through Spain, Portugal and France, we will be visiting three of the major apparition sites (Garabandal, Fatima and Lourdes!), also Saint Teresa of Avila’s convent, where Saint Ignatius of Loyola was born, Saint James (he who is the Patron Saint of Pilgrimages!),Lisbon where Saint Anthony of Padua comes from, the Eucharistic Miracle of Santarem, and more! This pilgrimage encompasses much and is during a Jubilee Year, which greatly enriches the pilgrimage.  All should surely pilgrimage at some point in their life.  To pilgrimage is not simply to visit holy places or sites, it is the journey of the soul, it is a walk with Our Lord and Mother Mary, it touches the soul in a most profound way in a blessing of an Eternal nature.  I will serve as group leader for this pilgrimage, and Father Seraphim will serve as the Spiritual Director.

Download  the brochure for the pilgrimage here 2022 Spain-Portugal-France Pilgrimage Christie Blair-Father Seraphim Molina.  I am more than happy to mail hard copies, together with a blessed Holy Face of Jesus medal from Italy touched to the relic of Saint Joseph, I would just need the mailing address.

Here is the link to the website: https://www.pilgrimages.com/christieblair/

Though the brochure says from Tucson, you are able to travel from any destination, the website has a drop down menu for destinations and if you do not see your desired airport there, please let me know and we can ensure it is added.

I would greatly appreciate if you would prayerfully discern this pilgrimage for you, and either way, if you would please consider forwarding this email/brochure/website and share with family, friends and/or your parish communities.  Irrespective of this, please keep this pilgrimage, and all pilgrims in your special prayers, and I will carry with me on pilgrimage, you and all of your special intentions.

Stand Up and Sip – An Opportunity to Support Stand Up For Kids – Tucson

In the United States –

4.2 million young people face homelessness;

1 million teens, ages 13 – 17 endure some form of homelessness;

5,000 of those die every year

13 died TODAY; 13 more will die tomorrow.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35 and 36 NABRE

Brothers:

I volunteer with StandUp for Kids Tucson, an organization that focuses on Street Outreach and Housing Support.  As a Street Outreach volunteer, I, along with other Street Outreach volunteers walk the streets in known “hotspots” and other areas where homeless youth congregate, to give out food, clothing, hygiene products, and resource information. StandUp for Kids makes it a point to be accessible at consistent times each week in order to build relationships with homeless youth and help ensure they get connected to programs and important community resources that we trust.  Our mission: To end the cycle of youth homelessness. StandUp for Kids does what we’re all called to do in Matthew 25:35 and 36, and you can help.

Brothers, in the past, you and your councils have been a great source of support for StandUp for Kids Tucson, whether it was by coming out to the golf tournament in April 2019 or Oktoberfest in September 2019, hosted by council 5133, or just making a simple donation.  You may recall Kim Sisson, the Executive Director for StandUp for Kids Tucson speak at a Chapter meeting, bringing with her a host of volunteers that included PGK Julian Ramirez from council 16061, the University of Arizona council, and myself. Thank you to all of you who may have come out for a day of golfing or a night of brats, beer, and Polkas.  As we all know well, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for organizations to hold fundraising events.  StandUp for Kids Tucson has an innovative opportunity for the Knights of Columbus to support StandUp for Kids….. and drink wine.

On Saturday, April 17th, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM, join StandUp For Kids Tucson for StandUp and Sip, an online wine tasting event. Certified Sommeliers, Sharon Liebeskind and Dylan Higgins will give the history and pairings for 3 wines. StandUp for Kids will lead you through the life of a street kid without you ever leaving your home! Wine for the event is included and will be available for pick up.  We’ll let you know when and where to pick up your wine before the online event. Tickets are $100 for 2 people.  There is a limited number of tickets available, so get yours before the event sells out!

Priest Appreciation Fund Raising

Sadly we are not able to hold our usual Priest Appreciation Dinner this year due to the COVID pandemic.

The chapter elected to award the proceeds of the 2020 dinner held in February 2020 to the Diocese of Tucson vocations fund.

Our Worthy Chapter President Emmanuel “Dutch” Steenbakker presented the check to Bishop Edward Weisenburger on March 8, 2021.

Since we cannot have our usual dinner to raise funds to donate next year (2022) we are asking that councils, assemblies and individuals make donations to the chapter for this purpose and replenish our fund.

Checks may be made payable to K of C Tucson Chapter and mailed to

Knights of Columbus
Chief Judge John M. Roll Chapter
P.O. Box 14191
Tucson, AZ 85732-4191

Donations may also be made using a credit card through PayPal below. All donations are welcome.

Feed My Starving Children

Download the flyer here FMSC OVCN Virtual Mission Trip letter

Did you know that due in part to COVID-19, the need for food support to prevent child starvation has now doubled? Relief organizations have been stretched trying to meet this growing need while with less resources because of the pandemic. Life as we know it in the United States has really changed over the last year because of the pandemic, but we cannot forget about those suffering around the world each day whom we do not see on the news.

Each year, Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene (OVCN) has pulled together the people of Tucson and the region to host a MobilePack event for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), an organization at the forefront of addressing this need. While FMSC cannot assemble lots of volunteers this year due to COVID-19, they are now able to machine pack these meals at a cost of about a quarter per meal, and more than ever before they need our help!

Join us on Saturday, March 6, for an historic online event to come together and help feed starving children! We will take a virtual mission trip to Haiti (no passport needed!) and see firsthand not only the challenges that millions of families face today, but also the huge, life-changing impact that Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is having, in great part due to Tucson’s
support. The event will be live at 7:00 PM MST on OVCN’s website at ovcn.church/fmsc. Visit today for more information on this event, and how you can participate.

K of C Challenge!
