Brothers in Christ, you are invited to join men from across the Diocese of Tucson in the 10th annual Catholic Men’s Conference in Tucson on Saturday, November 4, 20223.
This year’s conference will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and will feature keynote presentations from Tim Staples and Michael Gormley. The Men’s Conference will include Mass with Bishop Weisenburger, Rosary, panel discussion, lunch, and Reconciliation.
Tim Staples is a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, but he was not always Catholic. Tim was raised a Southern Baptist. Although he fell away from the faith of his childhood, Tim came back to faith in Christ during his late teen years through the witness of Christian televangelists. Soon after, Tim joined the Marine Corps.
During his four-year tour, he became involved in ministry with various Assemblies of God communities. Immediately after his tour of duty, Tim enrolled in Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. During his final year in the Marines, however, Tim met a Marine who really knew his faith and challenged Tim to study Catholicism from Catholic and historical sources. That encounter sparked a two-year search for the truth. Tim was determined to prove Catholicism wrong, but he ended up studying his way to the last place he thought he would ever end up: the Catholic Church!
He converted to Catholicism in 1988 and spent the following six years in formation for the priesthood, earning a degree in philosophy from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, Pennsylvania. He then studied theology on a graduate level at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland, for two years. Realizing that his calling was not to the priesthood, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since.
Michael has been leading evangelization and ministry efforts for the past 17 years, both as a full-time parish staff member and as a speaker and consultant for parishes, dioceses, and Catholic campus ministries. He has his Undergraduate Degrees in both Philosophy and Theology, and a Masters in Theology and Christian Ministry, from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He currently serves as the Mission Evangelist for Paradisus Dei, a ministry dedicated to helping men, couples, and families discover the superabundance of God. Michael is also the founder and creative director of LayEvangelist.com, the co-host to two successful Catholic podcasts: Catching Foxes and Every Knee Shall Bow. He is married to his college sweetheart, Shannon, and they have 4 amazing children and get about 3 hours of sleep a night, which is alright by him.

Join the 50th annual March for Life in Tucson on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
This peaceful demonstration draws attention to the reality of abortion: that over 63 million children have been killed in the United States since Roe v. Wade in 1973. While Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022, prayers and peaceful demonstration are still needed to encourage positive change at the State level.
We begin in prayer at 9am Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral with Bishop Edward Weisenburger. Then we will march from the Cathedral to Holy Hope Cemetery for the Rose Ceremony. This is about 4.5 miles. Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes.
All are welcome! Knights should wear K of C apparel – dress appropriately for the weather. Councils and assemblies are encouraged to bring carry banners. Bring water. If you need to eat after Mass, bring something
There is a city-wide Fourth Degree Honor Guard call out.
Car pooling is recommended as parking at the cathedral will be crowded.
More details may be found on the Diocese of Tucson web site.

Did you know that due in part to COVID-19, the need for food support to prevent child starvation has now doubled? Relief organizations have been stretched trying to meet this growing need while with less resources because of the pandemic. Life as we know it in the United States has really changed over the last year because of the pandemic, but we cannot forget about those suffering around the world each day whom we do not see on the news.
Each year, Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene (OVCN) has pulled together the people of Tucson and the region to host a MobilePack event for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), an organization at the forefront of addressing this need. While FMSC cannot assemble lots of volunteers this year due to COVID-19, they are now able to machine pack these meals at a cost of about a quarter per meal, and more than ever before they need our help!
Join us on Saturday, March 6, for an historic online event to come together and help feed starving children! We will take a virtual mission trip to Haiti (no passport needed!) and see firsthand not only the challenges that millions of families face today, but also the huge, life-changing impact that Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is having, in great part due to Tucson’s
support. The event will be live at 7:00 PM MST on OVCN’s website at ovcn.church/fmsc. Visit today for more information on this event, and how you can participate.
Grand Knights and Faithful Navigators! Please meet with your members and consider making a donation for the challenge match. No amount is too small or too large.
Here is a promotional video you could show at your meeting:
You can donate by credit card at ovcn.church/fmsc.

Last year we in Tucson packed over 1 million meals for starving children; why can’t we do it again on March 6? If we all work together again and help do our part, we can! Mark your calendar for this important event and participate from the safety of your home.

The Ultrasound Initiative sponsored by the Knights of Columbus supreme Council has provided over 1000 ultrasound machines to pregnancy centers around the world. Council 8077 is proud to lead this initiative at our parish. However, a task this size will be much more successful with the help of the entire parish. Father Edward Lucero and the ministries at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton have agreed to help with this initiative.
The Knights of Columbus works together as an organization to purchase ultrasound machines for qualifying pregnancy centers. After the state and or local counsel raises 50% of the cost, the Knights of Columbus supreme Council will provide the other 50% to complete funding for purchase of an ultrasound machine.
Saving lives by helping each abortion minded woman to choose life by viewing their unborn children on ultrasound machines at pro-life pregnancy centers is a successful way to save our children. This initiative is funded by the Knights of Columbus state and local councils with matching grants from supreme Council’ culture of life fund.
Working with ministries of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish, Council 8077 is raising $17,000 to purchase an ultrasound machine to be placed at a pro-life pregnancy center where it is most needed.
On Saturday, May 11, 2019, the day before Mother’s Day, we will celebrate all mothers at a fundraising event. The dinner will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic church. Tickets are $30 per person; a table of eight can be purchased for $300 which will include a full-page ad in the event program. Live music will be provided for your entertainment. There will also be a raffle and auction items to include dinner with Bishop Weisenberger. Bishop Weisenburger has graciously excepted our invitation to attend and speak at the dinner.
Contributors may receive advertising in the Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative program, a copy of which will be distributed to all in attendance at the dinner.
